Under the material number 1.0923, HX220BD has a minimum yield strength Rp0.2 of 220 N\/mm\u00b2 in the untreated state. The bake-hardening effect, which is typically realized during the paint hardening process at around 170 \u00b0C and a holding time of around 20 minutes, can increase the yield strength by an additional 30-50 N\/mm\u00b2. At the same time, the homogeneous hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with EN 10346 permanently protects the material against corrosion, so that even complex body components achieve a long service life.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-956d7848\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">Properties<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>HX220BD is characterized by a balanced ratio of high formability and targeted, subsequent increase in strength. In the initial state, the minimum yield strength Rp0.2 is 220 N\/mm\u00b2, the tensile strength Rm is typically 320-400 N\/mm\u00b2 and the elongation at break A80 is at least 32 %. After bake-hardening in the oven, which is integrated into the lacquer drying process, the yield strength increases to up to 270 N\/mm\u00b2 without impairing the original ductility and low springback.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hot-dip galvanizing is carried out in a continuous dipping process: The strip sheet is passed through a liquid zinc bath several times and then uncoiled in a defined cooling area. This creates a closed, dense zinc layer that efficiently protects the steel from atmospheric and chemical corrosion attacks. Depending on requirements, various coating alloys can be used to provide additional properties such as improved coating adhesion or increased temperature resistance.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-e6b3254b\"><h2 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">Applications<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to its bake-hardening effect, which is specially designed for the paint hardening process, HX220BD is primarily used in the automotive industry. Typical applications include deep-drawn interior body parts such as door and fender reinforcements, engine compartment covers and side wall structures. These components are cold-formed in a soft state and then hardened in a paint oven, which gives them greater rigidity and improved crash performance. The combination of excellent formability, reduced springback and subsequent increase in strength makes it possible to make vehicle bodies lighter, safer and more durable.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-6edb4fef\"><h2 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">Conclusion<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With its bake-hardening effect, the hot-dip galvanized steel HX220BD in accordance with EN 10346 offers an ideal solution for the production of highly stressed car body components in the automotive industry. The controlled increase in the yield strength in the coating furnace, coupled with the protective zinc coating, ensures a long service life, improved crash safety and optimized formability. Manufacturers benefit from reduced component weights, lower springback and reliable corrosion resistance &#8211; decisive advantages for modern vehicle concepts.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
