Grade S355J0 is the ideal solution for high-load components exposed to fluctuating operating temperatures. Available as flat steel up to a maximum thickness of 30 mm, this quality steel offers architects, engineers, and purchasers the perfect balance of high static load-bearing capacity and enhanced protection against brittle fracture in cooling ambient conditions.

Overview of technical performance data

High strength values: The material impresses with a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa for material thicknesses up to 16 mm. In the range between 16 mm and our maximum supply thickness of 30 mm, the minimum yield strength is 345 MPa.
Reliability at the freezing point (quality grade J0): In the notched-bar impact test, S355J0 achieves a guaranteed minimum value of 27 joules at a test temperature of exactly 0°C. This makes it ideally suited for load-bearing outdoor structures.
Good weldability: Thanks to the optimized carbon equivalent, the material can be welded reliably in industrial steel construction without the need for complex preheating.

Flexibly adaptable to your production

Delivery condition as requested: Depending on your workshop’s material requirements, we supply grade S355J0 in the as-rolled (+AR), normalizing-rolled (+N), or thermomechanically rolled (+M) condition.
Additional quality options: Tailor the material to your specific needs. Whether it involves ultrasonic testing to ensure internal structural homogeneity in safety-critical components or specifically ordering an alloy composition optimized for galvanizing, all standard technical options are available for flexible selection.
