The hot-dip galvanized steel HX220YD in accordance with the EN 10346 standard is a highly developed thin sheet material that has been specially designed for demanding cold forming processes. The designation “Y” stands for steels without embedded intermediate atoms, whose alloy composition and purity are particularly strictly controlled. This special steel fine structure allows significantly improved r-values (plastic anisotropy) and n-values (strain hardening exponent) to be achieved compared to conventional deep-drawing steels. The integrated hot-dip galvanizing process also ensures a homogeneous, protective zinc coating that reliably protects the material even in highly corrosive environments. The coating variants +Z (pure zinc), +ZF (zinc-iron), +ZA (zinc-aluminum), +ZM (zinc-magnesium), +AZ (aluminum-zinc) and +AS (aluminum-silicon) are available, with which the corrosion protection can be specifically adapted to the respective application conditions.
Properties
HX180YD is characterized by an outstanding combination of the following features:
Hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with EN 10346: The zinc coating protects the sheet metal permanently against corrosion. The different types of coating offer customized advantages:
Applications
Thanks to its superior formability and reliable corrosion protection, HX220YD is used in many industrial sectors:
Conclusion
The hot-dip galvanized steel HX220YD in accordance with EN 10346 offers an outstanding combination of improved deep-drawing properties, homogeneous hardening and long-lasting corrosion protection. The controlled alloy purity and the absence of embedded intermediate atoms enable optimized r- and n-values, which guarantee the highest possible dimensional stability and surface quality even in complicated multi-stage forming processes. With a choice of six coating variants, the steel can be precisely adapted to a wide range of environmental and process conditions – a decisive advantage for applications in the automotive, household appliance, electrical, furniture and mechanical engineering industries, where the highest demands are placed on precision, service life and corrosion resistance.
