Chemical properties

The hot-dip galvanized steel HX300YD in accordance with the EN 10346 standard is a state-of-the-art thin sheet material that has been specially developed for demanding cold forming processes. With the material number 1.0927, HX300YD belongs to the group of “Y” steels without intercalated intermediate atoms. Strictly controlled alloy composition and purity minimize undesirable inclusions and atomic dislocations. This results in a fine-grained steel structure with significantly improved forming characteristics. Hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with EN 10346 applies a homogeneous zinc coating to the surface, which is available in the variants +Z, +ZF, +ZA, +ZM, +AZ and +AS and ensures long-lasting corrosion protection.

Properties

HX300YD is characterized by a balanced combination of excellent formability, homogeneous hardening and reliable corrosion protection:

Optimized r-values (> 1.3): A high plastic anisotropy coefficient ensures uniform flow behavior in the longitudinal and transverse direction. Local differences in thickness are minimized, which significantly reduces cracking and material weakening during deep drawing.
High n-value (≥ 0.15): The strain hardening exponent guarantees a uniform increase in yield hardness with increasing elongation and thus stabilizes the forming process by preventing premature embrittlement.

Hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with EN 10346: The zinc coating protects the sheet metal permanently against corrosion. The six coating variants offer specific advantages:

+Z (pure zinc): Standard corrosion protection for temperate atmospheres.
+ZF (zinc-iron): Improved adhesion and increased mechanical resistance.
+ZA (zinc-aluminum): Optimized resistance in urban and industrial environments.
+ZM (zinc-magnesium): Excellent protection in maritime or saline zones.
+AZ (aluminum-zinc): Combination of heat resistance and corrosion protection
+AS (aluminum-silicon): Maximum resistance to high temperatures and aggressive media.

Applications

The outstanding forming properties and reliable corrosion protection make HX300YD the ideal choice in numerous industrial sectors:

Automotive industry: Production of deep-drawn car body interior parts, door and trunk trims as well as complex structural components with tight tolerances.
Household appliances: housings, front panels and interior cladding for washing machines, refrigerators, freezers and ovens, where uniform material thicknesses and flawless surfaces are essential.
Electrical and electronics industry: housings, chassis and shielding plates that require high dimensional accuracy and corrosion resistance.
Furniture and furnishing industry: Filigree molded metal parts for design and contract furnishings that require precise contours and seamless surfaces.
Mechanical and plant engineering: Covers, cladding and components with tight bending radii and constant material flow, for example housing parts and technical components.

Conclusion

Thanks to its “Y” steel technology, the hot-dip galvanized steel HX300YD in accordance with EN 10346 combines outstanding deep-drawing properties with uniform hardening and durable corrosion protection properties. Optimized r and n values ensure maximum dimensional stability and minimize rejects during complex forming processes. With six available coating variants, HX300YD can be precisely adapted to a wide range of environmental and process conditions. Manufacturers who place the highest demands on the precision, durability and surface quality of their cold-formed sheet metal components will find HX300YD to be a future-proof and economical solution.
