Pushing the Limits: Maximum Strength for Demanding Lightweight Construction
The S500J0 grade represents the absolute maximum in strength among unalloyed structural steels in accordance with DIN EN 10025-2. As a specialist in flat steel up to a nominal thickness of 30 mm, this high-performance material was developed to withstand extreme mechanical stresses. It is the ultimate solution for advanced lightweight construction, where every gram of weight savings counts without compromising structural integrity.

Overview of Outstanding Mechanical Characteristics

With an impressive minimum yield strength of 500 MPa for material thicknesses up to 16 mm (and a strong 480 MPa in the range of 16 to 30 mm), the S500J0 sets new standards. Its tensile strength reaches peak values of up to 760 MPa, which allows for a drastic reduction in wall thicknesses, transport weights, and weld volume.

Toughness at the freezing point: The S500J0 guarantees a notched impact energy of at least 27 joules at a test temperature of exactly 0 °C. It thus provides reliable safety for heavily loaded structural systems and machine components used outdoors.
Killed high-quality steel: The material is cast in a fully killed state and, despite its high strength, has a homogeneous microstructure with excellent resistance to aging.

Delivery condition exactly according to your specifications: We precisely tailor the final microstructure to your manufacturing environment. Depending on technical feasibility and customer requirements, the flat steel is available in the as-rolled condition (+AR), normalized-rolled condition (+N), or in the modern thermomechanically rolled condition (+M).
High-end options for demanding projects: All additional technological options are available for this high-performance steel. Ensure component quality through certified ultrasonic testing, order the material with optimized suitability for cold forming (bending), or select a special alloy composition for subsequent hot-dip galvanizing.
