Structural Steel S355JR – The high-strength all-rounder for modern structural engineering

An economical solution for weight savings and high load-bearing capacity
Unalloyed structural steel S355JR is one of the most sought-after materials for creating slender, high-load-bearing, and cost-effective steel structures. Thanks to its significantly higher strength compared to standard grades, this flat steel enables a noticeable reduction in wall thicknesses and component weights without compromising safety.

Mechanical and technological profiles (up to 30 mm)

High yield strength: With a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa (for nominal thicknesses up to 16 mm) or 345 MPa (for thicknesses up to 30 mm), the material effortlessly withstands even massive static forces.
Solid basic properties (quality group JR): The material guarantees an impact energy of at least 27 joules at a room temperature of +20 °C.
Efficient processing: Despite its higher strength values, S355JR exhibits excellent melting characteristics and can be processed exceptionally well using all standard welding methods.

Forms of supply and application-specific options

Customized delivery condition: Mechanical properties are controlled entirely according to your requirements. We supply flat steel in the classic as-rolled condition (+AR), or in the thermomechanically rolled (+M) or normalizing-rolled condition (+N).
Flexible options for further processing: Do you need the material for intricate cold forming, or are you planning subsequent galvanizing? Through specific material options, the steel can be ordered directly from the mill with properties optimized for bending, roll forming, or specific zinc coating structures for hot-dip galvanizing.
