The hot-dip galvanized steel HX160YD in accordance with the EN 10346 standard is a highly developed thin sheet material that has been specially developed for demanding cold forming processes. With the material number 1.0910, HX160YD belongs to the group of “Y” steels without embedded intermediate atoms. Controlled purity and optimized alloy composition result in excellent forming properties, which are reflected above all in improved r-values (plastic anisotropy) and n-values (strain hardening exponent). Hot-dip galvanizing also provides the steel with reliable corrosion protection, whereby the coatings +Z, +ZF, +ZA, +ZM, +AZ and +AS can be selected individually depending on requirements.
Properties
HX160YD is characterized by its outstanding combination of high deep-drawing properties, homogeneous formability and durable corrosion protection:
Hot-dip galvanizing: The zinc coating provides effective protection against corrosion and can be finished in the following coating variants:
The balanced mechanical characteristic matrix of HX160YD enables both precise deep-drawing processes and complex multi-stage forming without the risk of increased failure rates due to cracking or unwanted material flow.
Applications
Thanks to its exceptional forming properties and robust corrosion protection, HX160YD is used in a wide range of demanding industrial sectors:
Conclusion
Thanks to its controlled alloy purity and “Y” steel technology, the hot-dip galvanized steel HX160YD in accordance with EN 10346 combines outstanding forming properties with long-lasting corrosion protection. Improved r and n values ensure uniform flow behavior and high deformation reserves, while the wide range of coating variants offers individual protection solutions for every environment. Whether in the automotive, household appliance or electronics industry – HX160YD enables demanding cold forming processes with maximum material utilization and minimum scrap. This material therefore represents a future-proof solution for companies that place the highest demands on the precision, surface quality and service life of their products.
